What waste do we actually accept, or what can you throw away in the bio-waste bin?
- Biodegradable waste
- Biodegradable municipal waste
- Gastrowaste
- Expired food (also in packaging)
- Foodstuffs and raw materials unfit for further consumption
- Edible oils and fats
- Waste from dairies, bakeries, confectioneries
- Kaly
Biological waste is collected only from housing estates.
Waste collection
Bio-waste is transported by special vehicles directly to the Horní Suchá Energy Centre, where it is subsequently processed.
How is the waste processed?
First, the waste goes through a sorting process where packaging and unwanted components are separated from the bio-waste. The waste then enters the anaerobic digestion process, i.e. processing without air. The processing produces useful products such as biomethane and organic fertiliser.
Output products
At the end of the whole process by which we process waste at the Horní Suchá Energy Centre, there are two output products.
Biomethane
This is supplied to the grid and sold on the market as a second generation fuel.
Certified organic fertilizer
This fertilizer consists of natural, fermented raw materials and microorganisms that are essential for the soil and provide it with important nutrients. In addition, it is organic and contains no harmful substances.
